About the last thing Vincent Wade expected was for Carson Cress to ask him out. Vince is a dedicated biology student and a bit of a loner. Superstar quarterback Carson is larger than life, and he lives under a public microscope. There’s no way they should work. But Vince is learning that sometimes people just come steamrolling into your life and all you can do is hang on for the ride or lose your heart in the process. If their relationship can survive the fallout when an injury derails Carson’s future plans, maybe Vince can finally find something to believe in.

I keep grading Mary Calmes' books three stars, but let me stress again - I buy every book of hers, so I guess it is enough for me to like it. The reason why I bothered to review this one (bothered because I would usually want to write the same review on every book of hers, I know what I am getting, so more often than not I will not review them) is because I actually found some differences that I really liked in comparison to a lot of her stories. I liked that she toned down "everybody around the narrator falls in love with him the moment they see him" theme. It is still there to a certain degree IMO, but as far as I am concerned not nearly as strong as in quite a few of her stories. I also liked that she tried to give the narrator some real character flaw - key word *tried*, but at least I thought this one was a genuine attempt, not trying to make something awesome a character flaw.Of course as often in her stories, this is the case of Super! Super! Instant! Love and if that bothers you, definitely stay away. After couple days of knowing each other and what week of being apart they are proceeding with super speed to I guess monogamy forever?
And I will still buy the next one.

Steamroller edition by Mary Calmes Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I really enjoyed this quick read from Mary. Gay men ✔️, athletes ✔️ opposites attract ✔️ hot sex✔️ I'm all over this. I have become a big fan of Mary's, it amazing how she can continually turn out entertaining books. I loved everything about Carson and Vince.
Love this one, this and timing are my favorite Mary calmes along with after the sunset and frog, I love these real love stories she writes, the paranormal ones are good but I don't know I love imagining a happy gay couple together in real time haha. I've re-read this at least half a dozen times very good story
LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! It's well written, the characters are intense for their storyline, and the love at first sight is a classic that BRIGHTENED my day. I enjoyed how Carson knows what he wants and who he wants to be even to defy his father, his grandmother, and possibly the fans who admired him. Vince has always known who he is and as a tough person to survive his parents kicking him out, surpassing bullying in high school, and even a minor "breakup" with his best friend/brother. It does start off a bit slow and jumps a bit in the timeline to tell the story but catches the reader.
Have a Happily Ever After.
As the star quarterback on his college football team with the very real possibility of playing in the pros, Carson is used to being highly visible, but he's found it's a very lonely position to hold, wanting just one person who sees him and not his social status or athletic ability; and he thinks he's found that in Vince. This is a Cinderella story. The prince notices the one person that is invisible to everyone else and carries them off. Carson's persistence and his self-confidence were a huge draw and I absolutely loved him; his stubborn pursuit of Vince was a beautiful thing. Great story!
I loved the first half of this book, then it was like the author took a happy pill, and suddenly you were in fantasy land, it became too unbelievable. You really got to know and love the characters, with their witty dialogues. My favorite scene was in the fitting room of the sporting goods store. I was hoping Carson would do like Congrssman Brian Sims did--take his team to the national championship game, and was the hero of the game, and come out on national TV, during the celebrations, but no such luck. The author had to come up with an off the wall ending, that made it too unbelievable to take the book serious.
This was a real good College Romance book. Vincent is your typical good student, however I wouldn’t classify him as the nerd though. He works extremely hard to become a botanist who wants to create the plant that will stop World hunger. Carson is the Star Quarterback with hopes of making it to the NFL and is well on his way there.
Author Mary Calmes gives us a light hearted College Romance Romp. Everything moves pretty quickly. There wasn’t a lot of character development in this story, but I really don’t want to knock her for that. Print length is short with only 120 pages, so I believe she did a great job of telling this story between the front and back cover. She was able to get the relationship built up, but are we going to make this work? A catastrophe that was not expected occured and then tied it all together with the Happily Ever After ending.
This is the first book that I have read by this Author and after sampling this I would definitely look at her work again in the future.
This book was purchased, we were not given a copy for review.
I do likes me some Mary Calmes! This is the story of Vince and Carson, two men at Emerson University, deep in the heart of Texas, who come together dizzyingly fast days before Christmas. This is all from Vince's viewpoint, and you get to know him a bit before he is blindsided by Carson's intentions. Which is a big deal, since he's the star quarterback of the university's football team and not even a little bit out. But he isn't a closet case, and soon Vince will find out how serious Carson is about their budding romance. Mrs. Calmes is an expert at making such lightening-quick connections seem real and inevitable, and I enjoyed experiencing Vince's personality and confused feelings for Carson. Carson himself isn't as well-fleshed out as Vince, but enough is there to understand why Vince falls so hard for him. Definitely give this one a try.
